I think a part of the challenge should be getting to the point where you are overlevelled, whereas in this game, it was easy. In this game, I could kill most things from the get-go, and the game never really got harder (I could easily demolish lizardmen when I started Chapter 3, and it did not get harder from there). In Gothic 1 and 2, it took a bit of effort to get to a point where you can kill all the wildlife on the level with ease.
